A mirror, not a coach.
Ek कम doesn't lecture you. It doesn't show scary statistics or tell you what to do. It just holds up a number — and lets you decide what to do with it.
The Philosophy
Most quit-smoking apps try to push you. They guilt-trip, remind, and pressure. That approach fails for most people because it creates resistance.
Ek कम works differently. The only thing it asks you to do is count. That's it. No commitment. No goal. No streak to protect. Just an honest number at the end of the day.
"What gets measured, gets managed — but only if you're the one measuring."
The act of counting creates awareness. Awareness creates choice.
Why This Works
Smoking is largely unconscious. Most smokers don't know how many they've had by 3 PM. The moment you start counting — even without trying to cut down — the number itself starts to feel real. And real numbers create real reflection.
Research on habit change consistently shows that self-monitoring alone reduces the behaviour being tracked. Not because of willpower — but because visibility interrupts autopilot.
The Journey
1
Log it
Scan the QR, tap the count. Takes 3 seconds. No account needed.
2
Track it
See daily, weekly, monthly patterns. When do you smoke most? What triggers it?
3
Be mindful
The number becomes visible. You start to notice the habit rather than just live inside it.
4
Reduce — naturally
No one told you to. But somehow, ek kam ho jaata hai. One less, then two less.
5
Quit — if and when you're ready
We're not asking you to quit today. We're just asking you to count today.
This is not a quit app.
It's a counting app. You're in control. If you smoke 20 today and 19 tomorrow — that's one less. That's Ek कम.
No pressure. No judgment. Just you and an honest number.
Where This Started
This idea was tried personally — and it worked for a month. QR codes in smoking zones, a simple counter, nothing fancy. The tracking itself changed the relationship with the habit.
That experiment became Ek कम — now shared freely, started from Pune, for anyone who wants to try.
